What I Wore: Resort Chic

16th July, 2019

One of my favourite things about going on a tropical getaway is putting together my holiday wardrobe. Resort wear is without a doubt one of my favourite styles to work with because I love the relaxed nature of it. And living in Australia, I think we do these styles beautifully.

I think one of the biggest musts of resort chic is a gorgeous summer dress. I tend to gravitate towards midi styles and am really embracing prints. Florals are always a winner as they evoke an understated elegance, but I think warm, balmy days are also a dream pairing with crisp white frocks. If you only pack two styles with you on holiday, make it those two.

Whilst dresses are easily dressed up or down with the right shoes and accessories, I’m also a fan of packing great separates. If done in a considered way, you could pack a handful of separate pieces and create several looks. I always love to pack a pair of high waisted shorts (white is always a beautiful option for a beachy vacation) because I know that I can wear them to the pool and out to lunch and all the way to dinner if I so desired. I’m also really into crop tops worn with a higher waist and paired with natural textures such as a straw hat or a wicker bag. Simple, understated and elegant — you can’t really go wrong with that approach.

What I Wore: Island Getaway

19th December, 2018

During our recent trip to Hawaii, I packed a wardrobe that was light and perfect for the heat but also incorporated lots of fun, vibrant pieces. These lightweight silk Tory Burch pants were perfect for wearing during the day but when paired with a dressy top and heels at night it made for a great outfit for dinner. I loved the print and the punchy colours which were perfectly in keeping with the easy and relaxed vibe of my whole holiday wardrobe.

I paired these pants with the two-piece black Tory Burch swimsuit I had for a day of checking out the local sights. The bandeau top served the dual purpose of being a crop top but it also meant I had a swimsuit ready to go in case I wanted to go for a quick dip during one of our walks.

When it came to my accessories I wanted to stick to natural textures and this straw We Are Poolside bag had a real tropical feel to it. It was just the perfect size for carrying my essentials (wallet, hotel key, sunglasses and the like) and also came with a detachable strap in case I wanted to go hands-free (which I often did with the girls in two). My gold Aquazzura sandals were comfortable enough to walk in all day but added a glam touch to the rest of my look. And what’s a beach holiday without a great pair of sunglasses. I’ve been wearing these small-frame cat eye sunglasses by Poppy Lissiman to death as I love their modern, slightly futuristic vibe.
