What I wore this week

19th January, 2023

We’ve been having some truly glorious weather in Sydney over the last few days so it’s been the perfect time to embrace some gorgeous summer pieces. That said, it seems the weather has turned, so I’ve also been able to get into one of my go-to combinations when I’m in mum mode (and yes, it involves denim.). School holidays always opens me up to all facets of my wardrobe as the girls and I embrace all sorts of activities. Here’s what I wore this week.

I love the brand Rixo for glam party pieces, but they also do some great casual dresses such as the one above. The starfish print is perfect for summer and I like the freshness of the blue on white colour combination. The bias cut and deep V neckline is also really flattering.

How good is being able to wear pyjamas outside of the house? This relaxed set by Sir is made of the softest silk and drapes beautifully. Also, the print is fun and really makes a statement. I tapped into the white in the print by embracing a white pair of slides and mini bag.

Felt like getting dressed up for a little shoot I was doing and this dress by Kate Ford was perfect. The vibrant floral print is by artist Helen McCullagh and is a little different to the usual softer florals that are popular in summer. I particularly love the hits of bold red. The puff sleeves and teardrop shaped cut out also help elevate this frock into something a little dressier.

Introducing one of my fave comfy mum mode outfits. I always find a shirt paired with jeans to be a great shortcut to a polished look and these jeans by Viktoria and Woods also bring an on trend feel to this outfit with its relaxed fit.

What I Wore: Flowerbomb

25th May, 2021

UK brand Rixo have always been synonymous with a great party dress for me—all sequins and high octane glam. But they’re offering when it comes to casual dresses is something I’m definitely turning to more and more. So when I saw this dress, it immediately caught my eye as it’s such a departure from the aesthetic I usually associate with the label. I am quite partial to a great floral dress most of the time, but what I love about this particular style is the print. The oversized flowers and the green and pink palette work really well to add vibrancy to this dress, which is also a juxtaposition to the more demure aspects of the dress such as the Peter Pan collar, the midi length and frill detail. I could wear this easily during spring/summer while I’m out and about, but it also works well an occasion dress, which really allows me to maximise its versatility.

Pairing accessories with this dress, I was searching for things that were a little playful, but also had some strength and boldness to it to help balance the more softer, feminine style of the dress. So I went for a great pair of rectangular frames by Le Specs (they’re super affordable too might I add) which added a little attitude to my overall look. I also added a gilded element in the form of gold Aquazzura star sandals. I felt pairing sandals with this look as opposed to a heel, was a great way to take this outfit in a different direction, one that marries a little playfulness with a ladylike vibe.

What I Wore: The Bright Stuff

19th October, 2019

I’m on reporting duties for the Caulfield Cup today and it was the perfect opportunity to rock one of my favourite trends this spring racing season—a beautiful, vibrant suit. This Rachel Zoe pants and jacket combination in a punchy bold hue is event appropriate and features a great silhouette including bell bottomed pants and a double breasted jacket and sophisticated finishing touches like an accent lapel.

A bold look requires some fun accoutrements. I decided on a small black bag by Rixo which is enhanced by a colourful beaded bracelet handle and gold shell clasp. The structured, boxy shape and patent leather finish make it the perfect piece to complement this look. Whilst a monogrammed Burberry scarf worn as a hair accessory elevates this look and gives it a classic feel.
