My fave stores for a budget fashion fix

2nd April, 2015

While I think there are certain things in your wardrobe worth investing in, I also love shopping in chain stores. You don’t always need to spend big to get fashion forward pieces. And when it comes to trends, there may be certain things that will only last for one season so you don’t want to blow your budget for something that will be short lived. We have plenty of great chain stores in Australia but these are my fave places to shop when I’m looking for an inexpensive fashion fix.

ASOS

OK it’s not technically a bricks and mortar store (though how good would it be if it was?) but ASOS is my go-to place for finding everything from jeans to maternity clothes. I love shopping online and ASOS in particular is always a place I head to for lots of on-trend pieces that won’t break the bank.

Topshop

A welcome addition to the chain store line up in Australia. You can always find lots of great pieces in Topshop whether you’re after the latest trends or whether you’re just looking for basics such as tees and singlets.

Witchery

A great place for classic pieces that are well made and will last for more than a season. Witchery’s a great place for blouses and tops, but they also do a good range of staples such as pants and skirts. It’s the ideal place to check out if you’re looking to update your work wardrobe.

Country Road

Country Road has really lifted its game over the last few years. I’ve spotted lots of great pieces that look fresh off the ready-to-wear runway.

Seed Heritage

A good shopping destination for everything from sandals to shorts and blouses. The range is great for casual, laid back pieces that still look perfectly polished. (The kids’ line is great too!)

Sheike

I recently wore a great skirt and cape combination from Sheike when I was hosting an event and I personally think it’s something that wouldn’t look out of place in an expensive boutique. Sheike do good on-trend items but also check out their range the next time you’re after an outfit for a wedding or a night out – they’ve got quite a nice selection of dresses.

American Apparel

Basics. Basics. Basics. I’m all about American Apparel when it comes to things like tees and shorts. I was even wearing American Apparel on my wedding day (well, when I was getting ready!).

3 winter trends to try

26th March, 2015

9

The weather is getting cooler which means winter is just around the corner. I love summer fashion, however there is something distinctly more chic about winter – it must be the cozy layers and luxe fabrics. If you’re already planning your winter wardrobe, be sure to keep an eye out for some of these staple pieces and work them back with some of the key trends of the season. While we’re going to see numerous trends this season, this winter I’m all about the following trends…

Winter whites

Victoria Beckham sent an all white outfit comprising of a cosy knit and skirt down the runway that I immediately fell in love with. There’s just something about white on white that’s fresh and modern. I was all about white on white throughout summer so I’m glad I can carry it through to the cooler months.

A touch of 70s

While I wouldn’t do head to toe of one particular trend I do love some of the 70s inspired pieces that were seen at the international shows. Dion Lee and Zimmermann both incorporated flares into their collection which I thought looked great. I also really liked the lovely felt hats Zimmermann sent down the runway.

Bright pops of colour

Its a given that black is a staple of any winter wardrobe which is why I really love unexpected pops of colour during the cooler months. There’s just something fresh and modern about it. I think a great statement coat in a bright colour is a great piece to have. I fell in love with this particular coat by Tome!

Now that summer’s officially here it’s time to embrace all the amazing trends of the season. It’s hard to pick a fave with so many great summer trends around but these would be my top three:

All white

I love that everything’s crisp white this season and I’m especially loving that white on white look. It’s really fresh for summer plus it suits all occasions from weekends to nights out. I think it’s a really beautiful look.

Pastels

I have a soft spot for pastels. I think gelato and sorbet colours are really complementary on so many different people and skin types and I think that it’s a very pretty look for summer.

Sporte luxe

I love that sporte luxe look. I’m all about laser cuts, and neoprene. It’s a bit edgy and a bit sporty for summer. It’s a nice contrast to the more feminine look of the pastels and all white trend.

What sumer trends are you loving?
