Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Garden State

5th October, 2021

‘Tis the season for spring dresses and embracing gorgeous prints. This Sheike maxi dress taps into the aesthetic of this time of year, evoking an effortless, romantic vibe with its garden print, v-neck and voluminous sleeves. Maxi dresses can be a little tricky for me given I’m quite petite but this dress is just the right silhouette — the cinched waist makes for a flattering shape that doesn’t end up swamping me while the neckline achieves an elongating effect. Also, I am always on board whenever puffy sleeves are involved!

This dress works beautifully with a great pair of slides or sandals and could work for so many different occasions. I could easily wear this out and about if I felt like dressing up a little more for the day, but it’s also perfect for an occasion or just a lovely picnic lunch. When it comes to accessorising printed dresses, I always tend to favour pieces that are a little more pared back to allow the dress to take centre stage. In this instance I went for a few of my usual staples, including my watch and bangle, while a simple pair of drop earrings and a necklace made for the ideal accoutrements to tie everything together.
