What I Wore: La Dolce Vita

31st August, 2021

Living in lockdown right now, life is about finding the silver linings, the sweet things that make it worthwhile. And for me, one of those things is fashion. It’s always been something that’s been an integral part of my life, so the opportunity to play dress up (even if it is at home) is something that puts a smile on my face. That and a big bowl of pasta which is without a doubt one of my fave things ever!

I have an affinity with Italy having spent many a summer there during my childhood, Luke and I got married there and I’ve holidayed there with friends and family so it has always had a special place in my heart. So for this shoot, I married my great Italian loves of food and fashion. I am always quite partial to a shift dress but when it’s a cute little Miu Miu number like this, well, how could I pass it up? I love the simple silhouette of this dress but what makes it special are the little design details. The contrasting scalloped collar is all kinds of adorable, while the bow and line of pearl buttons help tie it all together and add a classic touch to the dress. I’ve always found that even the simplest of styles can be turned into something memorable with just the right finishes. I could see myself wearing this to an event in hopefully the not so distant future and it’s something I know I’ll keep in my closet for the girls one day. As for that bowl of pasta, well, that’s definitely something you don’t save for later!

If you’re in a similar situation and currently in lockdown, I highly recommend dressing up in a nice outfit even if you’re just headed to the living room! It certainly changed the vibe of my day and right now, it truly is all about embracing the little things that can brighten your day.
