Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Madame Butterfly

28th April, 2022

I love supporting Aussie designers and one brand I can always rely on to do a great event dress is Aje. I wore this dress to a function and with such a strong silhouette, it was only fitting that it was called the Admiral Butterfly Sleeve Midi Dress. There’s something quite commanding about it don’t you think? I do enjoy a statement sleeve moment, and Aje have wholeheartedly made it a part of their design DNA. The butterfly sleeve feature on this dress achieves a striking effect. When worked back against the simple fitted shape of the dress it achieves balance, while still injecting a whole lot of wow factor into the look. Also it’s an interesting take on an LBD, taking a classic style but giving it a dramatic flourish.

Accessorising this look, I could’ve gone down the path of a shoe with slightly more drama but in the end, I opted for a sleek pair of Bottega Veneta heels. This black heel has been such a workhorse in my wardrobe and it’s always guaranteed to be on high rotation. It’s the sign of a good investment purchase when the cost per wear has plummeted from such frequent use!
