What I Wore: Pattern Play

30th October, 2019

How striking is the pattern on this Rotate Birger Christensen mini dress? The bubble gum pink shade along with the bold swirls make it the kind of look that’s designed to make a statement. Whilst the pattern is a lot of fun, it works beautifully with the double breasted cut of the frock achieving a balance that manages to combine a classic style with daring elements. I’m in love with all things suiting at the moment and this is one example of how to interpret the suit trend in a more modern way.

I chose to go all out with this look, working it back with accessories that don’t shy away from being a showcase piece. The Jimmy Choo heels are a classic style but the crystal embellishments manage to glam it up without being over the top. The suede bag works with a similar crystal embellishment which helps tie the pieces together. What I like about the bag is that it can be worn as a simple shoulder bag but if you use the hoop that comes with it, it dramatically changes the shape giving it a slightly more bohemian feel. Big ticks for versatility.
