Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Suit Up

26th September, 2023

For polished workwear, it’s pretty hard to go past a suit. The beauty in suiting being so on trend at the moment (although arguably it never goes out of fashion) is that there are so many iterations of it. From sleek, sharp traditional suits, to more relaxed silhouettes, there’s a suit style out there that will work for any occasion. This set from Witchery is the perfect option for the office. The jacket and skirt combination is a classic look, while the check adds a fun element that lifts this skirt suit into more fashion-y territory as opposed to being strict corporate wear. I do also love the fact that as both are patterned separates they’re both easy to transition into other outfits, the jacket adding a statement element to a dress or pants ensemble, while the skirt looks great worn with a simple tee and sneakers for a more elevated take on casual wear. Meanwhile the ribbed tee adds a texture element to this outfit.

Accessorising pieces with a bold print or pattern can be tricky, but I find if you stick to more pared back styles, and simple block hues you can’t go wrong. I went with black as it’s a traditional hue when it comes to workwear staples. The slouchy shoulder bag makes for a great counterpoint for the more dressy feel of the suit. Meanwhile a pair of chunky loafers is an unexpected shoe pairing for this suit style, which I like as it adds an element of interest.
