What I Wore: The Shirt Dress

17th April, 2018

A white shirt is an enduring wardrobe classic simply because it’s so versatile and looks great without having to do much at all. It always looks polished and classy. So it stands to reason that a white shirt dress would fall into the same category. There’s something about the structured style of a shirt dress that makes it look elegant but there’s also scope to have a bit more fun. This Rebecca Vallance shirt dress is one such style. Whilst it still maintains the button down, collared silhouette of a traditional shirt, it also features beautiful ruched, bell sleeves that give it a more fashion forward feel.

While a shirt dress can easily be quite casual or dressy, I chose to go down the slightly more dressed up route with this particular ensemble. Against crisp white, black and bold pops of colour work equally as well so I decided to go for both! In this instance I opted to wear my favourite, go-to Alaïa studded heels and a bright and fun, Poppy Lissiman clutch. The red metallic and the eye print really adds some energy to my overall look and is a definite talking point. Simple cat eye sunglasses with a vintage feel help round out my ensemble and give it a touch of glam.
