Yes, spring is finally just around the corner! One of the pieces that transitions really well from winter to the warmer weather to come is a great striped shirt. The one I’m wearing above is old Bec and Bridge and it is still in constant rotation. The great thing about a striped shirt is it’s a bit of a style chameleon and it can be worn in so many different ways. It’s one of the things that you would definitely classify as a style staple.
I’ve always loved the simple pairing of a striped shirt with jeans, and these days you can pair it with denim in its many different iterations. From a classic blue wash to crisp white, to a wide leg or straight cut, the options are endless. Just tuck it in and away you go! The other alternative is to embrace the trend to layer your shirt by wearing it open over a tee or tank. It looks right on trend and is one way to take a striped shirt in a new direction. I love this vibe for a slightly more relaxed feel and it can easily be done over a skirts, a wide leg pant, shorts and trusty denim.
When shopping for a striped shirt look for an oversized fit, you want it look relaxed rather than skin tight to keep it looking more up to date. Also, I’m loving the fact there are so many hues to choose from now. You can go for a failsafe white and blue stripe combination or explore other pairings such as white with rusty reds, yellows and greens or fun colour blocking options such as pink and red.
