Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: All at sea

22nd August, 2023

Matching sets don’t get any better than this adorable duo by Gucci. I have always turned to Gucci for event looks from the races to launches and hosting duties, and can always rely on them to deliver polished looks with plenty of glam. This linen set is a touch more casual in that regard, but I love how easy and effortless it looks, and it’s absolutely perfect for spring. The whole outfit has a playful nautical feel to it from the mini wrap skirt to the kimono sleeve and the anchor insignia on the pockets. The blue and red accents also tap into the seaside vibe. Also the great thing about a set is that it can be worn as separates, so the skirt and shirt can easily be worn apart to create different looks. I wanted to dress it up a bit more so I added a button down shirt underneath, the collar and tie detail peeking out just so.

I went for an unexpected shoe choice with a chunky loafer with a platform heel to avoid the look being too saccharine. It’s a strong shoe with a bold silhouette and I think it helps ground the entire outfit. I added some sports socks too, from Gucci’s recent collaboration with Adidas to give it a more sporty feel. A mini bag from Gucci’s Bamboo 1947 collection, helped round out the look. I’ve always been a fan of the bamboo accents on Gucci’s bag designs, as I think it gives it an artistic feel, adding a touch of theatre that differentiates it from your usual handbag. Embracing a touch of Italian flair in my everyday look has me back in holiday mode again, if only just a little bit!
