Fashion, What I Wore

2022: My year in outfits

31st December, 2022

It always surprises me every year when it’s time to do this outfit round up. Where did the year go?! Time truly does fly.

Looking back over 2022, I’ve been truly lucky to be able to wear some amazing pieces. From a sequinned purple ensemble from Valentino complete with platforms (I mean, how can you not have fun with that) to the custom lace mini dress I wore to my wedding vow renewal in Italy to head-to-toe Gucci for Royal Ascot, it has certainly been an enjoyable sartorial ride this year. Most notably, my affinity for Aussie designers shows no signs of waning, with Aje, Acler, Camilla and Marc, Viktoria and Woods and Rebecca Vallance all consistent parts of my wardrobe throughout the year. It just goes to show how good Aussie fashion is! It’s also been great to discover up and coming brands and throw my support behind them.

The one thing I loved most about this year is that it was time to welcome travel back into our lives once again. It was great to be able to attend Royal Ascot for a few days, and get dolled up in a few looks from Australian brands, not to mention getting to wear the most fun pink Rachel Gilbert gown to my brother’s birthday in London. One thing I did love (and will never take for granted again) was being able to embrace resortwear while spending time in one of my favourite spots in the world, Taormina in Italy. It’s always nice to unleash Holiday Kate! From dresses by Venroy to Viktoria and Woods separates and some playful printed pieces by Alemais, it’s always so great to really relax into vacation dressing and embrace easy, breezy pieces with loads of colour. To cap off the year, I’ve also been lucky enough to embrace both the summer and winter sides of my wardrobe with a family holiday to the US. I’ve gone from matching co-ord sets in Hawaii to ski pants and cosy jumpers in Aspen.

Fashion is such a huge part of my life that doing this retrospective also reminds me of key moments in the year, and also how my style has evolved and changed. Certain pieces have become staples, while I introduced a few new additions that have quickly become my go-tos. It’s always a great reminder of how far I’ve come since the beginning of the year and all the beautiful moments I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy along the way.

I can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for everyone. Here’s hoping it’s full of love, laughter and a stylish moment or two. Happy New Year!
