Mother’s Day shoot with the Australian Women’s Weekly

23rd April, 2020

Magazines shoot very far in advance and given so much has gone on since then, seeing this shoot with the Australian Women’s Weekly hit newsstands today was a lovely surprise. It was also a beautiful reminder of a gorgeous day and something that really put a smile on my face.

The shoot was for Mother’s Day so I was able to work with Sophia and Grace on this particular project, which is always a nice way to spend a day at work. We shot on location at Wollumbi Estate, which is a luxury estate, vineyard and oil farm located in the Southern Highlands and it was jaw-droppingly beautiful. Without a doubt one of the most stunning homes I’ve ever been to. The styling of the shoot had a country vibe so it was nice to be able to spend the day wearing warm knits, chunky sweaters and boots.

It’s always a bonus when I’m working with my kids that there’s plenty of things on set to keep them occupied and this location was so perfect for them. The girls loved being at the farm being surrounded by all the different animals. Also we shot in the veggie garden which they also enjoyed as they were able to pick apples from the apple trees.

One of the highlights of the day was being able to work with the photographer Julie Adams again. She’s hugely talented and we have actually shot a few times before; firstly at my very first shoot as a mum for the The Grace Tales when I was pregnant with Sophia, Mother’s Day shoots for Trenery and Sportscraft and a Grace magazine cover when Grace was just born. So Julie’s seen the girls grow up, and it was nice to have that longtime connection with the person behind the lens.

I’m so happy to finally see how this shoot turned out, and it has me excited to spend Mother’s Day with my girls again.

Scroll down for some behind the scenes pics and the end result in the magazine.
