What I wore this week

7th September, 2023

It’s another week of transeasonal dressing in Sydney and while I’m loving the warmer temperatures later in the day, there’s still a little bit of a chill in the air in the morning which I have to take into account. However, since it’s warmed up a lot I have taken the opportunity though to do a soft launch of a few spring/summer looks I’m planning, and I’m already forecasting I’ll be wearing them a lot through spring. There’s just so much good fashion out there right now! Here’s what I wore this week.

Vests are really becoming a thing and I’m all for it. I like that it gives a pair of jeans a more elevated feel, and it’s so easy to work it back with other looks. Also PSA: if you’re looking for a great denim brand, I highly recommend Slvrlake. I have several pairs now and they’re all a great cut and fit in all the right places. I topped off this look with some Chanel to add some contrast pieces.

One of my fave styling tricks is when I want to dress super casual ie jeans and sneakers, I pop on a blazer on top and all of a sudden it feels put together. This Camilla and Marc blazer is just the right fit, it’s roomy enough to feel a little more relaxed yet there’s still enough structure to it when I want it to look dressy.

One of my favourite Aussie brands is Viktoria and Woods because their pieces always manage to look on trend but are always underpinned by a polished vibe. This pairing looks really cute worn together, but I’ve already bookmarked them both for spring/summer outfits I’ve got planned. For example how great would the top look with a pair of wide leg pants? They’re both a definite winner.

I’ve really been loving the collab between my friend Elliot and Bayse – I’ve worn these jeans previously with a white tank, but it goes equally as well with this knit top. It’s the perfect shade of grey and it works great against the indigo colour of the jeans. I threw on a pair of shearling lined slides as they make for the perfect transeasonal shoe when the weather is still going from hot to cold during the day.

What I wore this week (on location)

1st July, 2021

We’re still in Port Douglas this week so I’m still in resortwear mode. It’s definitely going to be weird going back to jeans and jumpers when we get back… I’ve been enjoying reworking the pieces that I packed, trying to create new outfit combinations, and I’m unearthing the standout pieces that are forming the backbone of a lot of my outfits — surprisingly swimwear is definitely right up there. I’m all about the importance of packing great accessories, because when you’re working with a capsule wardrobe, you need a few fun pieces to liven things up and give looks some personality.

Comfy and casual looks are on high rotation on this holiday and this is a go-to combination of mine. This top has been a great addition to my holiday outfit repertoir as it’s been a great piece to pair with multiple bottoms, from shorts to jeans and wide leg pants. I paired this with my printed Aje bucket had to add a little colour to this all black ensemble, and my trusty Louis Vuitton backpack is great for a busy day out wiht kids.

We headed out for a refreshing dip and a little exploring, so I needed an outfit that could work for multiple activities. These denim shorts have been a great base for a lot of my looks on this holiday and this monochrome ensemble is something I wear often because it’s really wearable, but still looks right on trend.

What I love about swimsuits is that I can wear them both as a pair of swimmers but also as a bodysuit which essentially doubles their wear. I popped these on with a pair of jeans and instantly had a look that I could wear out to lunch or for a day of sightseeing. My Loewe bag has been getting quite the workout this holiday; it’s roomy enough to fit everyone’s essentials, but always adds a chic touch to any outfit.

Embracing a fun orange gingham dress seemed the perfect outfit option for a bike ride along the beach. This dress entered my wardrobe last summer and it’s honestly one of my faves because of its punchy colour and simple silhouette. A pair of white Gucci sandals to top it off and I’m set.

Outfit repeats are a necessary part of any holiday wardrobe and this is one look I’m wearing again and again because of its simplicity and wearability. I’m all about this Monday Swimwear one piece at the moment because it’s easily paired with the other resortwear pieces I brought with me, and this stylish wrap is just the thing to pop on after a swim. Sunglasses are of course a must and these geometric Karen Walker frames have been such a great pair to finish off a lot of my looks.

What I wore this week

29th April, 2021

Cosying up in some of my favourite winter pieces this week has been fun as I’ve been able to unearth a few faves from last season and pair them with some new additions to my closet. But, the weather in Sydney this week has been mild enough that I’ve been able to wear a few summery pieces, and give them another outing. Here’s what I wore this week.

I wore this with a blazer last week but decided to keep it a little more casual so I switched out the jacket for a knit. It works with the jumper draped over my shoulder for when the weather is still a bit warmer during the day, and then I can easily just pop it on if temperatures drop. It’s a great trans-seasonal option.

This look is a riot of colour and I love it! It’s a great mood booster and the print is so fun and striking. It’s a set which means it’s such an easy outfit option because I don’t have to fuss around with pairing tops and bottoms. I simply added a pair of Gucci sandals to finish it off. And I can always rely on my trusty Loewe bag to help my carry all my essentials around.

I can’t emphasise enough how comfortable this Staud look is. It makes for a great travelling outfit as it’s polished, but it’s also a great go-to for busy days where you don’t have much time to be fussing around with an outfit. I went for an all black colour palette and added a pop of colour with my emerald green Dior bag.

All my fave jeans are coming back into rotation, including this black pair from Aje. They’re a great cut and are high waisted, which I really like. A sweater for unpredictable temperature changes, and a roomy tote make this a great look for when I’ve got a busy schedule to contend with.

What I wore this week

22nd April, 2021

I’m always trying to rework any new additions to my wardrobe in as many different ways as I can, and this week was no different. I ended up playing around with a new pair of Ksubi jeans, dressing them up and down, while I also had great time trying on new season looks from Valentino. As someone who loves fashion, it’s always enjoyable to be able to visit all spectrums of my wardrobe, from the super dressy to the ultra casual and have fun either way. Here’s what I wore this week.

Who says comfy can’t look stylish? This has got to be one of the most comfortable go-to outfits I have in my closet right now and I think it still works as a polished look. I invested in these dark Ksubi jeans for winter, and these sneakers have been in my closet for awhile, while the tee is from one of my fave stores for basics, Uniqlo. I also snapped up this wool blazer by Wardrobe.NYC to carry me through autumn/winter. I think just the addition of the blazer instantly gave this look a classic touch.

New Ksubi jeans make an appearance again! It’s a testament to how versatile they are. I dressed this up with Bottega Veneta heels and a simple tee. The shape is trending right now so it gave the look an on trend feel.

Enjoying my time playing dress ups at Valentino. I could have stayed there all day trying things on but this look was by far my favourite. Who could resist wearing this gold matelassé skirt and feathered kaftan? So chic, and so glam, and so Valentino. I also love the new shoe and accessories range featuring the larger studs; this bag and shoes have certainly stayed on my mind…

I might be a little biased being friends with the designer and all, but this set from my friend Nadia’s capsule collection with The Upside has got to be one of the great new additions to my loungewear collection. I love the sporty stripes contrasted with crisp white. So wearable and so comfortable too.

What I wore this week

18th February, 2021

The weather has been a bit up and down in Sydney this week, so it called for a plethora of different looks to cater for varying temperatures. I went from a swimsuit one minute to my fave denim the next, so it was a great exercise in being able to really delve into the various areas of my closet. Here’s what I wore this week.

One of my new fave things to do is rework a swimsuit into a bodysuit. It’s a great way to extend the wear of my swimmers and I love the versatility of being able to utilise existing pieces in different ways. I wore this great Viktoria and Woods textured swimsuit with cropped jeans, and sandals for a sleek summer look.

Being out and about as a mum means comfort is key. I love dresses for this very thing because not only are they comfortable, it’s also a great way to achieve a polished effect with minimal fuss. I wore this black Camilla and Marc dress with simple black sandals (side note: these are the comfiest sandals in my closet right now) for the ultimate in sleek and simple outfits.

This was at a press day for the All Star Mile so it was a great excuse to get frocked up. This is one of Aje’s signature silhouettes and it’s such a great look in a sky blue shade. I wore this with white Bottega Veneta pumps, and a white bag for my take on daytime elegance.

All black on this particular day. These Aje jeans worked back with a padded, sleeveless tee and sandals helped me to do a comfy look without compromising on style. Plus, the great thing is all these pieces separately work back with so many other things in my closet. Plus the addition of a classic straw bag helped to soften this look and give it a more feminine touch.

What I wore working from home

6th August, 2020

It’s been a week all about comfort dressing. I wanted to power through a few things on the work front so I was all about fun pieces that are still ideal for putting in some quality time with my laptop. So jeans and jumpers were the order of the day, but with a few punchy accessories in the mix to liven things up. Here’s what I wore working from home this week.

I love this jumper because the print and colour is simply all kinds of fun. It’s a great mood lifter and works brilliantly with denim so really, I can’t ask for more. These ripped jeans by Ksubi are ideal for a desk day and add a touch of edge to any look.

A little black and white on an unseasonably warm day in Sydney. I’ve been wearing a lot of Uniqlo basics as they’re so great for mixing and matching with different looks. I paired them with Chanel sneakers to add a touch of luxe (but still very practical) and a Dion Lee skirt just to dress it up a bit.

These straight leg jeans by Aje are so comfortable and really great for providing the starting point for an outfit. I went for a classic black and red combination today with this vibrant jumper from one of my fave brands, Skin and Threads.

Whoever made tracksuits a bonafide style staple deserves a medal. I love this Camilla and Marc set because it’s high on comfort levels but and ticking a trend box all at the same time. I paired them with a neutral pair of sneakers by D.O.F to finish off the look.

What I Wore: Day to Night

28th August, 2018

There are pieces that I have in my wardrobe that are definitely more evening appropriate but that doesn’t mean that that should be their only purpose. Often looks that are for night events tend to be a little more expensive due to their style and construction, so to ensure that I’m able to make every fashion dollar stretch further I’ve taken to reworking them to be suitable for daywear. And it’s not at all hard or expensive to do.

One way I’ve been doing the night to day transformation recently is with the below Zimmermann top which is too pretty to relegate just for the evening so recently I’ve been teaming it with jeans to make it more suitable for casual wear. This is something that you can easily do with other pieces in your wardrobe. Often teaming something that’s a bit dressier with something more relaxed such as jeans can tone it down and make it appropriate for off duty style. I teamed this particular look back with a pair of slingback flats which are polished yet not too over the top for day and a mini crossbody bag. The end result was a laidback look but with just the right amount of polish.

If I were to wear the top at night though it’s a different story. In the evenings I tend to favour a look that’s a bit more feminine and formal. So in this instance I swapped the denim over for a midi skirt in a similar colour palette as the top. And switched out the casual crossbody bag for a structured clutch with a chain strap handle which definitely adds to the nighttime vibe. I’d also go for dressy heels and leave the flats at home. Overall what I was going for with this particular look was something that’s a little more sophisticated and dressed up, lifted up by chic accessories that have a modern feel.

I did the below transformations with just one top but you can do this with pretty much anything you’ve designated as ‘nighttime only’. All it takes is a few key choices that dial down it’s dressy feel for day, then swap it for elevated pairings at night and you’ve instantly got double the wear out of your wardrobe.
