Fashion, What I Wore

The wardrobe pieces I get asked about the most

23rd July, 2022

Given a huge portion of my work involves sharing my fave outfits and pieces I am often fielding questions about what I’m wearing. Whether it’s a particular pair of pants or an item of jewellery, enquiries about what I’m wearing come with the job. What I’ve noticed however is that some items get enquired about more than most. There are a few key pieces that I always get asked about and it’s a combination of accessories, affordable finds, basics and a few special pieces thrown in. Here’s what I get the most questions about…

Levis 501 Skinny Jeans

I get DMs about these skinny jeans all the time. I don’t mind sharing these jeans far and wide because they really are the most perfect cut, fit and colour. Looking for jeans that are a flattering make has been part of my shopping repertoire for awhile but these Levi’s are as close as I’ve gotten to the Holy Grail of denim. The best bit is they are super affordable.

Gold coin necklace

My gold necklace is also right up there with my jeans as being something I get asked about a lot. I wear this necklace all the time as it has high sentimental value as it was a gift from my dad. He had an old guinea coin made into a necklace and it’s honestly one of my most favourite things in the world. While unfortunately there aren’t replicas of mine, I have seen similar styles here.

Chanel flats

These Chanel flats have been worth every penny. I love the slingback style and classic two-tone palette. I wear these quite regularly and with a variety of different looks that I share on my Instagram and blog so I get asked about them a fair bit. If you’re looking for an investment piece that you’ll get plenty of wear out of, I highly recommend these.

Cartier Juste Un Clou bracelet

I was gifted the Cartier nail bracelet for my 30th and I don’t really take it off so it features quite heavily in all my street style looks. Without fail I’ll get asked about it. All I can say is that I can attest to it being a versatile piece of jewellery, as along with necklace I also pretty much never take it off.

White t-shirts

I own a plethora of white t-shirts and they’re all from affordable chain store brands. My go-to brands are Cotton On and Uniqlo. The fit is always great and so is the price. Plus given I wear white tees weekly, I definitely love having a few on the go.

Ducie Sonia sandals

These Ducie Sonia sandals are without a doubt one of the most comfortable shoes I own. I have barely taken them off since I got them such is my attachment to them! I’ve worn them for work, travelling, on holiday, school runs… you name it, they’ve been there.

Ducie Saskia padded t-shirts

If you’ve yet to check out the UK brand, Ducie I highly suggest you do. They have some great pieces that are wearable and good quality too. I have these shirts with shoulder pads in two colours, white and black, and they go with everything. I wear them often and will get enquiries about them each time I do.

Henne ribbed tanks

Aussie brand Henne does great ribbed tanks. They’re good quality and have stood up to a lot of wear. I have them in different colours so they’ve appeared in a lot of my looks on the blog and Instagram and they’re still on high rotation.

Steele summer dresses

I have a collection of dresses by Aussie brand Steele and every time I wear them I get asked about where my dress is from. A great summer dress is such a handy thing during the warmer months and I love Steele because they always do great prints and their styles are feminine and fun. I have a few of them and wear them to death every time summer rolls around.

Camilla and Marc denim jacket

I love, love this jacket so much. This oversized denim jacket from Camilla and Marc is my go-to when I need a lightweight topper for in-between weather, when it’s not too hot or cold. The relaxed fit is great and the wash is just the thing to work back with so many different outfits.

What I wore this week

24th February, 2022

It’s always fun doing these posts as I get to reflect on the cute looks from the last few days and remember my faves. I went from a tried and tested workout look one minute to a high end designer look the next, and it’s always one of my favourite types of weeks—I love being able to revisit the full spectrum of my wardrobe. Here’s a peek at what I wore this week.

It’s always so exciting to be able to wear beautiful designer pieces and this is gorgeous mini dress by Louis Vuitton could be classified as a definite fashion thrill (and yes, I wore it last week but it was too cute not to highlight!) I love the modern take on the monogram and the beautiful high neck silhouette. This lemon yellow top handle bag added a zing of freshness to this look, and to cap it off, these tried and tested nude Tony Bianco heels which have quickly become a go-to event shoe.

Steele is one of my all time favourite Aussie labels for dresses, they always do such great silhouettes and vibrant hues and prints. This nautical themed dress has been a great go-to during summer and the stripes are such a fun print to wear during this time of year. I opted for these comfy Birkenstock heels to cap off the look.

Crisp white and denim is always such a winning combination. I wear different iterations of this look throughout the year, and this time around it was all about this Camilla and Marc tank and trusty Slvrlake jeans. I went for all black accessories, from these Ducie sandals and Prada bucket bag to these frames by Bottega Veneta.

Exercise gear has become its own bonafide section in my closet and this set by Year of Ours has been a worthy addition to my collection. I love the navy hue and the white tank over the top makes going from a workout to coffee a cinch. This over the shoulder bag and the Bottega sunglasses are the final pieces to make this ready for a day out.

The clothing items I repeat the most

31st March, 2021

I’m like many women when I say that I often play favourites when it comes to my wardrobe. There are certain things that are often in my regular outfit rotation, because I’ve found them to be versatile pieces that I can work in various ways. I do make an effort to try and utilise a fair bit of my closet, but sometimes, there are just pieces that work consistently and I’m not afraid to call on them often. So, having taken stock of what I’ve been wearing of late, these are the clothing Items that I’m wearing again and again.

Manning Cartell pants and Gucci tote

These pants are so comfortable and I love the fact they also look quite polished so I can wear them out and about without compromising on comfort. It’s also easy to match them with various tops and shoes, and the neutral hue makes them even easier to wear. The Gucci tote is a new addition to my closet and it’s already getting quite the workout as it’s such a great way to add a touch of colour to any look.

Levis jeans and Bottega Veneta (similar here) slingbacks

These Levis jeans have been such a good investment. They’re the perfect wash and cut to work back with so many tops I already own, plus they can easily be dressed up or down according to my shoe choice. And I’m so glad I splurged on these white Bottega heels as I have not stopped wearing them since they entered my life. The colour and style is so wearable.

Henne top, Viktoria and Woods jeans, Bottega Veneta heels, Chanel bag

This fawn coloured ribbed top by Aussie brand Henne has been such a worthy addition to my closet. I wear it all the time as it’s such a simple yet stylish silhouette and works really well with a variety of different bottoms. The rest of this look is also currently working pretty hard for me. The white wide leg jeans are going to be a constant in my outfit repertoire for the rest of the year, while these Bottega heels have totally been worth the spend. The cost per wear is SO good. Meanwhile this Chanel backpack is still one of those bags I constantly pull out as it works back with so many different things and it’s also perfect for when I’m out and about and just want to go hands-free.

Loewe bag and Gucci thongs

Accessories are so important to me and I often play favourites with a few different shoes and bags at the one time. At the moment, I’m all about this Loewe bag and Gucci thongs. They’ve both seen me through summer and I fully intend for them to still be utilised over the coming months.

Ksubi jeans and Cotton On tank

Admittedly my mum always queries the holes in these jeans, but I absolutely wear them to death. They’re such a great cut and I love the distressed look as it adds an element of interest to any casual look. Also, white tanks are so important to have as a wardrobe staple and this one by Cotton On is a great cut, but also so very affordable too.

Aje jeans (similar here) and Ducie shoes

Most of my jeans are a blue wash, so it was great to add this black pair to my collection because I’ve found it has really filled a gap in my closet. It’s been such an easy pair to pair with a variety of different tees, shirts and jumpers and I’ve already got it bookmarked to wear with many a winter look. And these Ducie sandals are such a shoe MVP for me. Not only are they really comfortable, they’re so easy to pair with most of the things I wear which is a huge plus.
