What I Wore: 2022 Lexus Melbourne Cup

1st November, 2022

It’s so good to be back at Flemington for this year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup! After such a long time between Cup days it is nice to be here in Melbourne enjoying the day. As far as race day outfits go, I’d have to say this is one of the most enjoyable to put together as the dress code for Lexus Melbourne Cup is a little more open-ended. You must look polished of course, but it’s definitely the time to embrace colour, make a statement and have fun with your look.

This year, I went with colour that’s very much having a moment right now: pink. This head to toe Gucci look is undeniably ultra feminine —with the pink hues in my dress, bag and shoes, not to mention the tiara hair slide. I’ve always loved wearing pink to Cup day and this year seemed a fitting time to do it again. I love the minimalist vibe of this slip dress, and the lingerie-esque silhouette coupled with the more conservative midi hemline achieves just the right balance.

Accessorising this particular was fun. The satin mules are all about the detail with the pin-tucked design and the ever so tiny monogram. The pastel pink worked well to complement the pink hue of my dress. While I went for a classic Gucci design when it came to my bag, with a baby pink Jackie 1961 mini handbag (named after the ultra stylish Jackie Kennedy-Onassis who had a great affinity for the bag) to help carry all my essentials. A headpiece is of course a must at any race day event, so this gorgeous crystal hair slide featuring the intelocking Gucci ‘G’ insignia added a glam touch and was the final finishing touch to my look.
