Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Full Bloom

8th February, 2022

I recently attended a friend’s wedding and decided to embrace a dress that is fun personified. I always love getting dressed up for weddings and this Rachel Gilbert dress just seemed the perfect fit. Sophia and Grace actually said it was their most favourite thing I’ve ever worn, which is a high compliment from my daughters. What really makes this dress for me is the wonderful clash of different textures and colours. From the embroidered florals on the overlay, the riot of colour and the feathered hem which moved just beautifully, all the elements were there for the perfect event dress. The finishing touch of the emerald green embellished trim around the neckline and arms elevated the look and really added an extra layer to the gown. All the beading and embellishments were done by hand, which is a feature I really appreciate as I know how painstaking the process is to get it just right, and it makes every feature look so precise and spot on.

When you’re wearing a dress that’s as striking as this one, I wanted to keep my jewellery quite simple and not go too heavy-handed with my choice of shoes and bag. The dress had to be the one taking centre stage. So, I opted for nude lace up heels by Tony Bianco which were the perfect neutral hue to blend into the background. I then paired it with a baby pink Chanel chain strap bag which I wore with the chain tucked in so it could act as a clutch (side note: Chanel bags are great for this reason as you can wear them multiple ways, from a crossbody to a shoulder bag to a clutch.) I went for classic, understated jewellery to complement my look as I didn’t want anything competing with my gown. As far as wedding looks go, this had to be one of my absolute favourites.
