Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Stepping Out

10th October, 2023

I saw this Gucci shirt with the interlocking horsebit print and immediately this look came to mind. The blouse has a bit of a 60s vibe to it, so I decided to pair it with an A-line skirt to keep the look in line with the decade. I liked the contrasting pussy bow detail, but instead of tying it into a bow I decided to just leave it to sit more like a necktie. It was a simple styling switch but I felt it kept this look from becoming too saccharine.

When it comes to accessories, Gucci always brings its A-game. I wanted to add a belt as I felt the skirt needed an additional finishing touch so I went for a webbed style in the iconic green and red colour scheme. It lifted the outfit and added some extra contrast against the blue wash of the skirt. A pair of sky high platform loafers with the wooden heel was a little more 70s than 60s but they were a bold shoe that worked against the ultra feminine vibe of the rest of my outfit. To finish things off, I added a mini bag with instantly recognisable bamboo handle that has become synonymous with the brand. This look was a fun take on 60s dressing but with a modern spin.
