Fashion, What I Wore

What I wore this week

1st December, 2022

December means it’s officially party season time so I thought I’d do a round up of a few of my event looks of late. From the races to a wedding to launches, I’ve embraced the full gamut of occasion attire over the last few weeks. The one thing it proves is that you really can take event wear in so many different directions, as I’ve gone for pants and a top for one occasion while another event called for a slinky cocktail dress. I think the only rule with event dressing is to enjoy it and have fun! Here’s what I wore.

I did a shoot for a racing event and ended up falling in love with this fuchsia gown by Aje. The signature oversized puff sleeve worked back with an asymmetrical hemline really amped up the glam factor and made a statement. With simple nude heels and a headband, I think this look could work for so many different events.

For those who remember doing pants and a nice top for a night out back in the day you’ll be glad to meet its more modern incarnation. Love this off the shoulder top by Aje, which is so beautifully theatrical — it’s almost a wearable work of art. Definitely ticks the box when it comes to a nice top. Meanwhile wide leg slacks offer a more tailored, pared back counterpart to the dramatic nature of the top.

I wore this stunning maxi dress to the Gucci launch, which not only was such a gorgeous interpretation of a floral dress, but it also was a way to show my support for the brand. Paired with a Gucci textured bag, and a pair of ornate heels, this look was all about embracing a feminine style but adding a few high end touches.

I wore this to a friend’s wedding and it had me channelling my inner mermaid — the kids certainly loved it for that reason! The laser cut detail on this Manning Cartell dress is insane — it added such a gorgeous texture to the look. Plus the wrap design is ultra flattering. I didn’t want to take away from the wow factor of the dress so stuck to nude heels to keep things clean and simple.
