Chain store round-up: 10 great pieces to add to cart

6th November, 2020

Doing this round-up every month, I always end up finding some great gems in chain stores. There’s plenty of vibrant pieces around that will definitely brighten any summer wardrobe along with simple, classic accessories that will take you through the next few months. It’s actually difficult to walk away not having compiled a lengthy wish list. If you’re looking to update your current wardrobe, check out these great pieces.

So much to love about this dress. The one shoulder neckline is perfect for summer while the little details like the asymmetrical skirt and gathered cuffs finish it off nicely.

This dress is one of those simple styles that can easily be thrown on for virtually any occasion. The shirred bodice is ultra flattering while the tie-straps and tiered hem are pretty touches.

These are the kind of slides that make for a great long term purchase—you’ll be able to wear them throughout the next few months, whether it’s dressed up or down. Love the simplicity and elegance of this design.

I have a penchant for gingham prints as they’re such a versatile print. These pants can be worn with everything from a tee to a cami, according to the occasion, and the relaxed style makes them ultra comfortable too.

Linen shorts are without a doubt one of the key summer staples every woman should have in her wardrobe. The simple pinstripe and cuffed hem make the ideal smart casual piece to have on high rotation.

The bohemian style of this blouse makes it the perfect accompaniment to everything from your fave denim to shorts and skirts. The lace detail is a pretty finishing touch.

A denim jacket is a transeasonal wardrobe’s best friend and if you’re looking for an alternative—but equally as versatile—option then opt for black denim version such as this. The cropped style makes it particularly perfect for using as a topper with dresses.

If you truly want to make a statement, a dress in a Barbie pink is a great way to do it! The fun hue is balanced by the puff sleeves and bias cut which give the dress a sophisticated, polished feel.

Black blazers are a forever item in any wardrobe, but understandably it may feel a little too heavy or dark for summer. In summer, why not go for a blazer in a light hue such as this ever so light pastel pink. The cut maintains its polished feel but the hue is very much in keeping with the spirit of the season.

Whether you’re headed to the beach or out to lunch, these black crossover slides will get you there. You’ll certainly wear them to death, making them a great buy.

Spring is the ideal excuse to jump on any floral dress number. This one has the kind of simple yet classic style and print that will allow you to take it out on many an outing.

It’s never too late to start a love affair with linen, and these crisp white pants are a great place to start. I’m a huge fan and have always relied on linen pieces during the summer months. It always looks elegant and it’s supremely comfortable too.

These navy cropped pants are the kind of staple every woman should have in her wardrobe. It’s so easy to pair it with a tee in summer or a jumper in winter and as you can see, works a dream with a denim jacket. Double ticks.

Chain store buys: 10 pieces worth adding to cart

7th August, 2020

It’s the last month of winter so this means we’re heading into prime transeasonal weather. Before we fully get into the throes of spring dressing (hello, easy breezy dresses!) we can still get some mileage from a few wintery pieces that can see us through the last few weeks of cool temperatures. So in the mix, I’ve rounded up a few on trend pieces, some classics to take you through to the end of the year and some handy staples to make dressing during that ‘it’s not hot but it’s not cold’ period much easier.

Embrace the wide leg jean trend now because it’s going to be here for awhile. If you’re a little unsure, this super affordable option is a great way to dip your toe into the trend.

This gorgeous rosy pink shade is just made for spring. But in the meantime you could easily pair it with a jacket and boots and make it appropriate for chillier weather.

This balloon sleeve cardigan is a slightly more fun iteration of a cardi. It also can be worn as a set, with a knit top that can be worn underneath. Both work great as layering pieces so they’re a handy thing to have at your disposal.

A denim jacket is one of those things that you should always have kicking around in your wardrobe. They’re great for popping on over dresses or worn with cropped pants and a tee, or you could go the whole double denim route. The options are endless.

A black midi skirt is a great piece that can be dressed up or down. But in a black denim like this, it feels a little more modern and fresh.

The tie-dye trend has been around for awhile and this jumper is a great way to add a touch of it to your look without it feeling too over the top.

A sweet addition to any spring/summer wardrobe, this top can be worn back with jeans and a jacket now, but paired with a great pair of shorts come warmer weather time.

White wide leg pants are a versatile piece to have around. They can be paired with a casual tee and sneakers, or a button down and slides for a more sophisticated feel.

Florals for spring are a given so why not stock up now? This midi dress is a great starting point to kick off all your spring/summer looks. In the meantime team it with a denim jacket and sneakers and you’ve got yourself a winning combination.

A white shirt will get you through any season and this style will certainly be on high rotation over the coming months.

Chain store round-up: 10 great buys to add to cart

3rd July, 2020

While designer buys are great, most of the time it’s all about finding pieces that are affordable and fashionable. And I firmly believe we’ve got such a great range of brands on offer in Australia that it’s quite easy to snap up something new to revamp a tired wardrobe without having to spend big. Chain store buys are often the building blocks of many wardrobes for good reason: they’re on trend, affordable and offer plenty of choice.

This is why this is the first instalment of regular round-ups I’ll be doing of what’s on offer in popular chain stores. I’m planning to highlight all the great pieces that are definitely worth adding to cart right now whether it’s a basic that can work back with multiple items or a statement piece to make a simple outfit shine.

If you’re in the mood for a wardrobe update but don’t want to spend a fortune, you’ve come to the right place. There are some truly great offerings in chain stores right now which are on trend, stylish and reasonably priced. Having perused what’s on offer, here are a few options that will instantly lift your winter wardrobe, but won’t break the budget either.

This beige Country Road wool skirt is such a good staple to have. Worn with boots, it’s perfect for winter and a great alternative to pants. But it’s also easily worn with a tee or cami in summer making it easily do double duty.

I always like to look ahead to the upcoming season and this is the perfect dress to wear into spring/summer. It also comes in another colour if white isn’t your thing. And billowy sleeves are such a great feature to really lift the look of a dress.

A slouchy navy knit can never go astray in one’s winter wardrobe. Love the shape of this and it’s the ideal colour to work back with multiple pieces. Such a great, versatile piece.

I’ve spoken of straight leg jeans being the denim silhouette to have right now and this pair from Seed is such a great way to adopt the style. The wash is also a great way to freshen up a winter look.

This bobble knit is such a pretty winter warmer. Love the ribbed cuffs and the fact it can also be worn slightly cropped with high waisted jeans. The earthy tone is also one of the big colours of the season, making it a versatile staple to have.

I love the practicality of this reversible coat from Seed. One side is a beautiful plain camel colour, the other a statement check. Both are great for winter and is such a good buy considering you get two coats in one.

A great shirt never goes astray particularly in winter and this black shirt from Cotton On could easily pass for a lightweight jacket which essentially doubles its use. You could easily pair it with jeans or casual pants, or a skirt or dress further down the track.

I’m a huge fan of high waisted pants. This wide legged number would work back with so many different pieces. The fact you can wear it casually with sneaker or dress it up with flats or a great sandal gets a huge tick.

Statement dresses are a fun addition to any wardrobe and this printed number, with its long sleeves and pleated skirt make it a practical and pretty winter wardrobe purchase.

Ribbed tops are a great way to elevate basics. The hue, cut and style of this Glassons top would make it the perfect partner to a variety of different pieces, plus it’s a great price.
