Fashion, What I Wore

What I wore this week (on location)

1st July, 2021

We’re still in Port Douglas this week so I’m still in resortwear mode. It’s definitely going to be weird going back to jeans and jumpers when we get back… I’ve been enjoying reworking the pieces that I packed, trying to create new outfit combinations, and I’m unearthing the standout pieces that are forming the backbone of a lot of my outfits — surprisingly swimwear is definitely right up there. I’m all about the importance of packing great accessories, because when you’re working with a capsule wardrobe, you need a few fun pieces to liven things up and give looks some personality.

Comfy and casual looks are on high rotation on this holiday and this is a go-to combination of mine. This top has been a great addition to my holiday outfit repertoir as it’s been a great piece to pair with multiple bottoms, from shorts to jeans and wide leg pants. I paired this with my printed Aje bucket had to add a little colour to this all black ensemble, and my trusty Louis Vuitton backpack is great for a busy day out wiht kids.

We headed out for a refreshing dip and a little exploring, so I needed an outfit that could work for multiple activities. These denim shorts have been a great base for a lot of my looks on this holiday and this monochrome ensemble is something I wear often because it’s really wearable, but still looks right on trend.

What I love about swimsuits is that I can wear them both as a pair of swimmers but also as a bodysuit which essentially doubles their wear. I popped these on with a pair of jeans and instantly had a look that I could wear out to lunch or for a day of sightseeing. My Loewe bag has been getting quite the workout this holiday; it’s roomy enough to fit everyone’s essentials, but always adds a chic touch to any outfit.

Embracing a fun orange gingham dress seemed the perfect outfit option for a bike ride along the beach. This dress entered my wardrobe last summer and it’s honestly one of my faves because of its punchy colour and simple silhouette. A pair of white Gucci sandals to top it off and I’m set.

Outfit repeats are a necessary part of any holiday wardrobe and this is one look I’m wearing again and again because of its simplicity and wearability. I’m all about this Monday Swimwear one piece at the moment because it’s easily paired with the other resortwear pieces I brought with me, and this stylish wrap is just the thing to pop on after a swim. Sunglasses are of course a must and these geometric Karen Walker frames have been such a great pair to finish off a lot of my looks.

What I wore this week

29th April, 2021

Cosying up in some of my favourite winter pieces this week has been fun as I’ve been able to unearth a few faves from last season and pair them with some new additions to my closet. But, the weather in Sydney this week has been mild enough that I’ve been able to wear a few summery pieces, and give them another outing. Here’s what I wore this week.

I wore this with a blazer last week but decided to keep it a little more casual so I switched out the jacket for a knit. It works with the jumper draped over my shoulder for when the weather is still a bit warmer during the day, and then I can easily just pop it on if temperatures drop. It’s a great trans-seasonal option.

This look is a riot of colour and I love it! It’s a great mood booster and the print is so fun and striking. It’s a set which means it’s such an easy outfit option because I don’t have to fuss around with pairing tops and bottoms. I simply added a pair of Gucci sandals to finish it off. And I can always rely on my trusty Loewe bag to help my carry all my essentials around.

I can’t emphasise enough how comfortable this Staud look is. It makes for a great travelling outfit as it’s polished, but it’s also a great go-to for busy days where you don’t have much time to be fussing around with an outfit. I went for an all black colour palette and added a pop of colour with my emerald green Dior bag.

All my fave jeans are coming back into rotation, including this black pair from Aje. They’re a great cut and are high waisted, which I really like. A sweater for unpredictable temperature changes, and a roomy tote make this a great look for when I’ve got a busy schedule to contend with.

What I Wore: Jets Launch

20th April, 2021

I love revisiting looks like this because it makes me feel like I’m on holiday. Resortwear just has that eternal summer vibe to it that makes me yearn for an overseas getaway to a tropical destination. I wore this to a Jets launch aboard a yacht and luckily, Sydney put on the most perfect day for it. This was a black one shoulder swimsuit that I wore as a body suit, and is likely going to be a go-to for me this summer. It’s such a sleek and chic design, so minimalist yet really bold and striking. I wore them back with relaxed, wide legged, high waisted black pants to keep the vacation vibe going.

I did a beach glam look on this day so it was all about embracing gold statement jewellery. I went for a pair of Aje drop earrings, while I layered my everyday necklace with a great chain style piece from Manning Cartell. I couldn’t look past my fave white Gucci slides to pair with this look to provide a little contrasting element. And what better bag to accompany me than the classic Loewe basket bag. While I can’t jetset to my fave sunny destinations for awhile, at least I can look the part at home.

What I wore this week

25th February, 2021

It’s been a bit of a funny week in Sydney with the weather going from gloomy and rainy to sunny and hot and back again. With such crazy weather, I’ve been able to enjoy two extremes of my wardrobe going from light breezy dresses one minute to jumpers and jeans the next. I’m guessing this means transseasonal weather will well and truly be just around the corner. With a mixture of appointments, meetings, mum duties and shooting this week, here’s what I wore.

One of my favourite labels, Steele does the best summer dresses. I always love their playful prints (particularly gingham and stripes) and in particular this lemon yellow hue was perfect for earlier in the week when the sun was out. I paired this look with black Bottega heels and my fave Loewe basket bag.

Snapped up this great Zara skirt and immediately this outfit came to mind. I wore it with a Ducie top and sandals, along with my Prada bucket bag for a casual all black ensemble. And when the weather is kinda unpredictable, I always find black to be a great option.

Fresh and summery but polished is what I was going for with this look. These white Viktoria and Woods wide leg jeans have been such a great addition to my wardrobe as they can be worked back with so many different hues and styles. Plus I love the current on trend pairing of beige and white—it just looks immediately put together. My go-to Bottega Veneta heels and metallic Chanel backpack finished off this look.

My take on winter in summer dressing. I pulled out this khaki Bec and Bridge jumper I wore to death last winter as I loved it so much, and it was nice to be reunited again. Worked against black Aje jeans and sandals it helped me to navigate a cool-ish day outside. Plus this belt bag by Furla is my new fave thing. The perfect hands-free accessory option!

What I wore this week

18th February, 2021

The weather has been a bit up and down in Sydney this week, so it called for a plethora of different looks to cater for varying temperatures. I went from a swimsuit one minute to my fave denim the next, so it was a great exercise in being able to really delve into the various areas of my closet. Here’s what I wore this week.

One of my new fave things to do is rework a swimsuit into a bodysuit. It’s a great way to extend the wear of my swimmers and I love the versatility of being able to utilise existing pieces in different ways. I wore this great Viktoria and Woods textured swimsuit with cropped jeans, and sandals for a sleek summer look.

Being out and about as a mum means comfort is key. I love dresses for this very thing because not only are they comfortable, it’s also a great way to achieve a polished effect with minimal fuss. I wore this black Camilla and Marc dress with simple black sandals (side note: these are the comfiest sandals in my closet right now) for the ultimate in sleek and simple outfits.

This was at a press day for the All Star Mile so it was a great excuse to get frocked up. This is one of Aje’s signature silhouettes and it’s such a great look in a sky blue shade. I wore this with white Bottega Veneta pumps, and a white bag for my take on daytime elegance.

All black on this particular day. These Aje jeans worked back with a padded, sleeveless tee and sandals helped me to do a comfy look without compromising on style. Plus, the great thing is all these pieces separately work back with so many other things in my closet. Plus the addition of a classic straw bag helped to soften this look and give it a more feminine touch.

What I Wore: Crown Sydney

20th January, 2021

I have a newfound appreciation for a great staycation given border restrictions right now so I was thrilled to be invited to check out the newly opened Crown Sydney in Barangaroo. With a luxe holiday feel, it was the the ideal time to try a few resortwear looks.

The one thing I always do whenever I’m on holiday is embrace a simple colour palette that can be mixed and matched. I went for crisp white and warm neutrals in this instance, wearing some great new pieces from Viktoria and Woods. The white pants I’m wearing below have been such a great addition to my summer wardrobe. They go with virtually anything and can easily be dressed up or down (I’ll definitely bookmark them for when the time comes when we’re able to do overseas trips again).

What’s a holiday without being able to get dressed up for a nice dinner? We were lucky to roadtest one of the new restaurants at the Crown so an LBD seemed the ideal starting point. I opted for a sleek Aje dress with a subtle cut-out and and Bottega Veneta sandals.

While poolside, I embraced one of my fave trends of summer: wearing a one-piece swimsuit with pants. I wore a one-shoulder Bondi Born swimsuit with lightweight wide leg pants by Monday Swimwear, which easily took me from sitting by the pool to being able to grab a bite to eat without missing a beat. Sleek and simple – my fave way to do holiday dressing, near or far.

What I wore this week

14th January, 2021

Who else is finding it hard to get back into the swing of things post-Christmas? I’ve been easing myself back into it, but it’s still been a mixture of work, spending time with the girls during the school holidays and the generally trying to settle into routine again.

So needless to say my outfit repertoire has been quite mixed. I’ve gone from family mornings at the beach, to time in front of my laptop to general errand running and it’s allowed me to bring out a few fave pieces but also incorporate some new favourites into the mix.

I love comfy looks at the beach and this has become my go-to because it’s so easy and effortless. The pants and top can be worn separately too, making them really versatile. While this straw hat is a must as it offers great protection from the sun. I’ve been using this straw bag as my carryall all summer, and I love its versatility as it works just as well at the beach as it does out to lunch. A pair of sunnies is the perfect finishing look.

Dresses are my shortcut to looking polished throughout summer. I love the print on this Camilla and Marc look, while a sunny yellow and white clutch by Lucy Folk is the perfect pop of colour.

One of my top brands for dresses in summer is Steele. The designs and prints are always really feminine and fun. This checked dress with shirring has been such a fave of mine throughout the last few weeks.

I felt like wearing something sleek on this day so a black dress it was. I kept the rest of the look quite simple, with sandals and my fave LV backpack. An all black look can sometimes look flat so I added statement gold jewellery to give my outfit a little lift.

Style vs. Steal: Loewe Basket Bag

16th October, 2019

There’s no doubt that basket bags are a prominent trend this season. With its natural feel and relaxed vibe, it’s the perfect complementary piece to any spring look. The one basket bag that’s been high on people’s wish lists is the classic Loewe basket bag. And for good reason. The style embraces simplicity, dips its toe subtly into logomania with the leather brand plate on the bag and features beautiful leather accents.

If you’re looking for the perfect accessory to lift your spring wardrobe then consider this simple beauty. You’ll have it for years to come and it’s high on versatility and can easily be dressed up or down. If Loewe’s not in your price range, then never fear because there are still plenty of alternatives that will tick all the boxes.

What I Wore: Light and bright

30th October, 2017

Spring is the ideal time for light and breezy styles and this white broderie anglaise dress is just right for days spent enjoying the sun. The intricate embroidery add to the classic feel of the dress whilst the chevron detail worked throughout add a layer of visual interest and give it a little depth. I’ve always found that anything in a crisp white is better worked back with understated accessories as it really allows the colour to pop. In this instance I opted for a mini structured bag in a mink shade and round sunglasses with a clear frame to complement rather than compete with the dress. I rarely leave home without a watch so I needed something that was quite streamlined and simple, and my Michel Herbelin timepiece seemed the perfect option. Whilst I do believe in keeping to a simple colour palette when working with white, I do love to always incorporate one bold piece into my look and in this instance it was my favourite gold Gucci heels.

What I Wore: Laidback Tailoring

28th September, 2017

A classic, white button down shirt is a workhorse in my wardrobe. I often turn to it as an easy, no-brainer option when I need to look polished. The trend of late has been for slightly more modern, fashion forward take on the traditional collared shirt. I was drawn to this Anna Quan piece with its oversized silhouette, statement cuffs and exaggerated sleeves precisely for that reason as I loved its contemporary feel and its elevated take on such a much beloved fashion staple. I find navy always works beautifully with white so I opted to pair the shirt with a knee length skirt in that hue. The cut-out detail gives the skirt a point of difference and adds an element of interest to the overall look. This neutral shoulder bag by Loewe is an all-rounder in my closet and can easily be utilised for a day or night look. In keeping my bag quite simple I thought the outfit needed a pop of colour so I paired it with my gold Gucci heels as a contrast to the traditional hues of the rest of the outfit. This look will become a go-to for me when it comes to work attire as I love laid-back tailoring that feels considered yet still remains effortless and not too done.
