Sale season is almost upon us which means it’s time to prep yourself to hit the shops (or your computer) to grab a bargain. I love sales but it’s important to make sure you have a game plan so you walk away with a genuine bargain and not just something that will be relegated to the back of the cupboard.
Do your research
Head to your fave stores to scope out what you’d like to purchase at sale time. This will help make it easier to target what you want. When there’s loads of people shopping it pays to know what you want ahead of time.
Call ahead
There’s always a crowd to contend with as far as shopping goes so to save time call ahead and see if what you’re after is available.
Get in quick
I’m an average shoe size so my size always runs out the door which is frustrating. If you’re like me, it’s best to not procrastinate and get in quick so as not to be disappointed.
Ask yourself if you’d buy it full price
Sometimes it can be easy to get a bit carried away when it comes to sale shopping so go in there with a budget and stick with it. And don’t just buy something just because it’s on sale. Think about if you’d buy it full price. That’s a trap a lot of us fall into.
Wear comfy clothes when you’re shopping
You’ll want to try things on so be sure to wear something that’s easy to slip on and off and that goes for both your outfit and shoes. You don’t want to be dealing with laces or complicated buttons all day as it can get a bit tedious.
Wait to buy staple items at sale time
If I want to buy something like sheets for my bed or towels, I’ll wait around till the sales are on. Staple items that aren’t so trend focussed are really great to get on sale.
Sign up for sale alerts
Whether you’re shopping online or in-store sign up to the mailing list of your fave retailers so you know when sale time starts. This is especially key when you’re online shopping as things can sell out fast.
Tell me – what are your tips for shopping the sales?
