Fashion, What I Wore

What I Wore: Calypso

30th March, 2021

The one trend I’ve been really loving of late is a cut-out dress. This Staud number, is called the ‘Calypso’ and it’s a new addition to my wardrobe and it has to be one of the comfiest dresses I own. The silhouette on its own would be quite simple but with the addition of the metal ring and the cut-out panels, it instantly feels modern and elevated. The colour is also not something I wear all that often (the brand calls is ‘caper’), but I have been slowly gravitating towards slightly earthier tones more. It’s a surprisingly versatile hue to wear, almost as easy to mix and match as traditional neutrals. The ankle length hem also means that I could wear it as daywear or easily pair it with heels for night—or just do both like what I did for this shoot! Plus the best bit? It’s made from recycled tissue-weight nylon fabric which is a huge tick for me.

As for accessorising, I thought it was the perfect time for this adorable Apede Mod bag to make an appearance. I wrote about it a few weeks ago and mentioned it was on my radar, and it was been such a fun accessory to add to my collection. It’s quite cute as it’s so small and I can wear it during the day but it’s also quite diminutive enough that I can easily wear it at an event or out to dinner. My black Bottega heels have been such a worthy purchase because I wear them non-stop, I think the cost per wear on them at the moment has made them a great investment piece.
